The basics
What is Iris?
A Windows app that makes complete websites. You describe the business and pick a look; Iris plans every page, writes the words from your brief, designs and builds the site, tests it in a real browser and repairs what it finds. Then you edit, publish and own it.
Who is it for?
Small businesses, freelancers and the people who make sites for them: shops, restaurants, studios, clinics, firms, venues, events, creators. 22 kinds of website are built in, across 31 kinds of business.
Do I need to know how to code or design?
No. Everything is plain choices and your own words. If you do code, the full source is a standard Next.js project you can open, change or push to GitHub.
How long does a site take?
About 5 minutes to describe it, a minute to pick a direction, then the build: eight recent three-page builds on Iris Cloud took 25 to 58 minutes of working time each, and a build takes about 1 to 3 hours on your own PC. You can watch each page appear, home page first.
Will my site look like everyone else's?
No. Every build gets its own Design DNA from 694 design choices, and Iris steers away from the looks of your recent sites. The 4 example sites on the home page each have a different layout, heading font, palette and art style.
Is a Mac version coming?
Not yet. Iris is Windows only for now.
Quality and your content
How do I know the site works?
Every page is opened in a real browser at seven screen sizes (six widths from 320 to 1920 pixels, plus a pass laid out as a real 360-pixel phone) and checked for layout, text, links, menus, buttons, forms, animations, photos and accessibility (axe-core, WCAG 2.2 A and AA). Problems are repaired, up to two rounds, and the quality report shows every result; a check that didn't run says Not checked.
Before publishing, Test before publishing tries purchases, bookings, accounts and forms as they'll work live, with nothing charged or sent.
Does Iris make up pictures or facts?
No. Content photos are your own, placed where you say; backgrounds are drawn art. Words come from your brief, and Writing help and the launch kit leave out anything that adds a fact you didn't give. Missing details stay missing rather than invented.
What if I don't like the design?
Change it: pick another design direction, ask for a few versions of a section or page side by side, make a new version of one page, or a whole new version of the site. Earlier versions are kept so you can switch back.
Can I edit it myself afterwards?
Yes. Click any words to rewrite them, swap photos, change styles, move, copy or hide sections, and manage pages, menus and links. None of that uses AI or costs anything.
Owning and publishing
Who owns the website?
You do: the words, your photos and the code. Download it as a static site or the full source project, or push it to GitHub.
Where is my site hosted?
On your own Netlify, Vercel or Cloudflare Pages account, which all have free plans. Iris publishes to it in a click once it's connected and helps add your domain. Iris doesn't host sites, so it can never take one offline.
Can I sell things or take bookings?
Yes: products, tickets, services and downloads from your own catalogue or your Shopify store, paid through your own Stripe, PayPal or Square account; appointments, tables and rooms with calendar sync; members-only pages; newsletter sign-ups. Iris takes no cut of your sales.
Can the site be in more than one language?
Yes. Translate it into up to eight of 30 languages; each gets its own address in the same design.
Privacy and AI
Where does the AI run?
On the free plan, on your own graphics card (Qwen3.8 27B, run by the engine built into Iris). With Iris Cloud, in the cloud (Iris Cloud Standard, or Iris Cloud Pro for the best quality). Either way, building, previews and browser tests run on your PC inside a sealed container.
What is sent to the cloud with Iris Cloud?
What the AI needs to build your site: your brief, your photo notes, the site's code and screenshots of its pages. On the free plan, none of it leaves your computer for building.
Does this website use cookies?
No. It sets no cookies, has no tracking and loads nothing from other websites. Your light or dark theme choice is remembered in your own browser only. The Iris Cloud account pages use two cookies to keep you signed in safely; the cookies section lists them.
